Mass production of another reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive cover carpet composite new project

  After more than a year of hard work and deep project cultivation, in early August, our company was awarded the mass production of a new 80 ton/year reactive polyurethane (PUR) hot melt adhesive project. The application of this project is the bonding and composite of carpet fabrics for car trunk covers (as shown in the figure below); In recent years, our company has also obtained another low VOC, low odor adhesive composite bonding project based on PUR hot melt adhesive under the vision of "green environmental protection, better future". This project is another spare tire cover new project in cooperation with a leading American new energy vehicle company in Shanghai. As a leading American new energy vehicle manufacturer, their new project has always been closely watched and actively pursued by major first tier supporting manufacturers.

With the increasing demand for odor and VOC from car users and manufacturers in the past two years, the use of PUR hot melt adhesive has also been increasing year by year in the composite bonding market for car interior trunk covers. Compared to traditional solvent adhesive solutions, the main advantage of PUR hot melt adhesive is a significant reduction in adhesive consumption. For example, at the beginning of this project, due to the lack of hot melt adhesive equipment, we used solvent adhesive for composite bonding (double-sided construction, with a single set dosage of about 260 grams). However, after the hot melt adhesive equipment was put into use and the project was put into mass production, the dosage was reduced to 140 grams per set, which was nearly half of the amount used! Due to the difference in unit price, hot melt adhesive not only reduces odor and improves VOC performance, but also saves costs. At the same time, the solution we have chosen has good spraying performance and is not easy to form convex marks on the carpet surface; Having a certain opening time, workers have ample time to operate on areas where carpet lamination is not sufficient during repairs.
In addition, in terms of equipment investment that many customers are concerned about, in recent years, with the upgrading of the automotive manufacturing industry, equipment costs have also been greatly reduced. More than 10 years ago, when our employees were just introduced to the application of hot melt adhesive interior composites, although the market was not large, imported hot melt adhesive machines and robotic arms were commonly used. For example, a Swiss brand robotic arm was priced at around 200000 to 300000 yuan in the market, while in recent years, a Guangdong brand Boxtech has lowered its price to 30000 to 40000 yuan, or even lower, and the same goes for hot melt adhesive machines. The cost savings in equipment investment, as well as the increase in worker wages and raw materials, have also driven the continuous heating of PUR hot melt adhesive in the automotive interior composite bonding market. We believe that in the next 3-5 years, the market share of PUR hot melt adhesive will continue to increase and grow into a mainstream interior composite adhesive unit.
